Nominations Open for 14 Temporary
Rank-and-File Native American SCC Positions
The Native American Democratic Caucus of New Mexico (NADCNM) is now accepting nominations for 14 Temporary Rank-and-File Native American State Central Committee (SCC) positions for the remainder of the 2025–2027 term. These seats were created through a DPNM Judicial Council Consent Disposition to strengthen Native representation within the Democratic Party of New Mexico.
These positions are open to all Native American Democrats living in New Mexico — including citizens of New Mexico Pueblos, Tribes, and Nations, as well as Native relatives whose homelands are outside the state, such as Alaska Native, Lakota, Comanche, Cherokee, Ojibwe, and many others who now call New Mexico home!
These temporary seats offer a meaningful opportunity to participate at one of the highest levels of DPNM, help shape decisions, and represent the perspectives and priorities of Native American Democrats across the state.
Help Set the Direction of the Party
SCC members are part of the statewide governing body that guides the Democratic Party between conventions. Your perspective helps influence priorities, strategy, and how the party shows up for Native communities.
Shape the Rules and Policies That Affect All of Us
You’ll vote on updates to party rules, bylaws, budgets and resolutions — the decisions that determine how the party operates and what values it stands behind.
Lift Up Native Issues and Sovereignty
These seats exist to ensure tribal nations and urban Native communities have a direct voice at the party level. You can bring forward concerns, ideas, and solutions and help keep Native priorities visible.
Represent Your Community at the State Level
You’ll serve as a bridge between your tribal community, Native organizations, and the state party — sharing information both ways and helping build stronger relationships.
Participate in Committees (Optional but Powerful)
If you choose, you can join committees like Rules, Platform/Resolutions, or Affirmative Action — places where major decisions and proposals are shaped before they reach the full SCC.
